PRITCHARD

Can anyone inform me if any of the Pritchard family still live in the Brownshill area?   My grandmother Emily Hook (born 1865 Eastcombe) nee Winstone, had a sister
Mary Pritchard who lived with her husband Mike at Whitbourne Cottage, Brownshill.   Mary and Mike had a son Raife and a daughter Olive.   Olive became Mrs Martin
and lived at Ham Mill.   I think Raife was killed in an industrial accident in Stroud about 1937.   I do not know if Raife or Olive have any descendants.

I visited  Gt. Aunt Mary and Mike at Brownshill a few times before WW2 with my parents, and also Olive at Ham Mill after the war, using the old push and pull train.
My grandfather George Hook was born at The Laurels in Eastcombe in 1858.

Any news of members of the Pritchard family will be welcome.

GRIFFIN

My father, Roy Griffin (born 1927) and his three elder sisters, Phyllis, Evelyn and Joan, were born and spent their childhood in the late 1920s, 1930s and early 1940s
in and around the village of Chalford.

My grandfather was Otto Griffin (born 1894) who lived at Cowcombe View, Wenvoe and Milton all at Chalford Hill, and at Bramley, France Lynch. He married
Leah Eleanor (Nellie) Witts. My grandfather played football and cricket for Chalford for many years, and they lived in the Chalford area until the 1960s when they
moved to Cheltenham.

Otto Griffin had three brothers, Harry, Lionel and Carl, and three sisters, Elsie, Kate and Lily.

My great grandfather was Joseph Josiah Griffin (born 1852) who married Elizabeth Marmont at France Chapel. My great, great grandfather was George Griffin.

I am not particularly seeking information but if anyone remembers my father, aunts, grandparents, I would be very happy to exchange memories.

WINSTON

My great great grandfather Charles Winston was a stone mason at Eastcombe. He was born 1823. He married Mary Ann Lambert who may have been from Chalford Hill. I know that there are descendents of Evelyn Winston - who was Charles granddaughter - still living in the area. And I would really like to hear from them or any other one who knows anything of these families.

NICHOLLS

I am trying to trace my relatives who lived in Chalford Hill. My GGGGgrandfather Thomas Nicholls lived in Sliver Street in 1822 in what was then the bakery. He fought in the Peninsula wars. His wife was Eleanor Griffiths and their children were Mary-Ann, Charles & John. Any information you have about the family or the Bakery would be most welcome. Tim Nicholls.
