WINSTON

My great great grandfather Charles Winston was a stone mason at Eastcombe. He was born 1823. He married Mary Ann Lambert who may have been from Chalford Hill. I know that there are descendents of Evelyn Winston - who was Charles granddaughter - still living in the area. I am trying to trace my relatives who lived in Chalford Hill. My GGGGgrandfather Thomas Nicholls lived in Sliver Street in 1822 in what was then the bakery. He fought in the Peninsula wars. My Grandfather, William Fisher, was born at Stancombe, near Bisley. His mother, Anne Winstone, was from Eastcombe. His grandfather, also called William Fisher, was a bit of an artist as well as a farmer.
