Chalford Hill Online Village
About this Site

We’ve all heard about how the Internet is bringing people from opposite sides of the globe together, and turning the world into a ‘global village’.

The idea behind the Chalford Hill Web site is to use this means of communication and information exchange at a local, ‘real-village’ level. We envisage the site being used for announcing social, sports and church events, passing on local history, highlighting ‘news’ which affects our village and its environs, promoting local businesses and services, even listing properties for sale. There is also a dedicated area for school news and events.

If you want to make your own contribution, promote your business, sell your home or publicise a forthcoming event on the Chalford Hill Web site - then contact us here.

Comments from 'visitors' around the world

While tracing my family history I discovered your website. My gggggg grandfather Edmond Edmonds was born there in 1654. Unfortunately I don’t have much information about him except he was married to Hannah and they had a son William born in Chalford 1682.

I enjoyed your website and really enjoyed the many photographs. Just wanted to say ‘hi’

Thank you for the Chalford Hill site which was an unexpected treat to find on the web.

I lived in the village next to the school (Roseberry Terrace) between 1951 and 1957 and attended there for two years. The pictures brought back some memories that had been long dormant.

Hopefully I shall have the opportunity to visit in the future and see how the passage of 40 years has affected the area. That is not such a long period, given the overall history of Chalford.

My wife and I just 'visited' Chalford from Canada, thanks to your page. We were interested to see what was there as our grandfathers (John Croome and Horace Croome) were born in Chalford Hill and we have been there, on a ground, a couple of times. Gilbert and Wendy Croome

All I can say is... WOW! What an excellent site. I came across it via the school pages...

Did you know the village was going to be on Countryfile this Sunday? Apparently John Craven will be interviewing Janet Gaskill about the Lottery scheme for rebuilding walls in the village; I have a special interest in this scheme as my walls are in a particularly poor state (I live at Millbank on Marle Hill).

To all those involved in the website, congratulations...
